About

Steven Douglas and Company

Solo Record Debut

Steven Douglas and Co. is a collaborative musical effort combining the blues and rock inspired vocals of Steven Douglas, past front man for Seattle bands Midstokke and Colossal Boss, with the collective talents of musicians from all over the country for the release of a brand new EP.

“It’s a combination of rock, blues, funk, & twang. Every song grooves in its own way,” says Douglas.

Douglas says his love of music started early in life being raised on old soul and Motown. “We always had dance parties as a family. Music always helped us celebrate life.” He credits U2, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Little Walter as some of his biggest influences.

Douglas started playing the harmonica at age 18 and met his former Midstokke band mates while in college at WSU after responding to an ad looking for a lead vocalist in the Stranger. The rest, as they say, is history.

Midstokke made a name for themselves locally in the Seattle area and hit the big stage at Sturgis, the world famous motorcycle rally held in South Dakota, seven times. It was at Sturgis that Douglas met Audio Engineer / Producer, Brandon Goehner, his partner on the current EP.

After Douglas and his fellow band members started getting more into family mode, moving out of state, getting married and having kids, they hung up the hats of Midstokke and Colossal Boss. Douglas still wanted to make music though. He and Goehner decided to get back at songwriting again. “We wrote a song a week for 2 months,” he said. They invited fellow musicians from all over the country to add the finishing touches, layering it all together while working remote and spending time with their families. “It opened a lot of doors to the ‘magic’ of music. The album is unprecedented,” he adds.

The 8 song EP includes 2 re-releases and new recordings featuring 5 different guitar players, 3 different bass players, a horn section, keys and background vocals.
